Rory Dick

This is my personal website.

I'm interested in reducing existential risk to life. To that end, I like to work on problems that improve the chances of humanity's survival. I operate under the worst-case assumption that life only exists on Earth (although I think that this is unlikely) and that the continued existence of humanity may therefore be necessary for the survival of all life.

Current Focus

I currently run Mission to Protect Intelligent Life, an open research platform for existential risk-reducing projects.

I'm looking to continue my work in the space sector and am searching for a job.

Research Interests

Generally-applicable governance structures for societies, communities and other organisations - exploring things like decentralised governance.
Existential risk mitigation to prevent extinction or irreversible civilisational harm to life.
Long-term human flourishing, including off-Earth, self-sustaining civilisation.
Societal optimisation: systems to ensure equitable access to opportunity and maximised positive productive output.
